Project “KlimaPriPro” is implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021–2026 and is financed by European Union funds through the NextGenerationEU instrument.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Main objective: to define adaptation strategies for tourist destinations in the Republic of Croatia to climate change.
Sub-objectives:
1) to develop an index of the sensitivity of destinations in Croatia to climate change
2) to create a manual containing strategies for the adaptation of destinations to climate change
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The research for this project is conducted in several phases:
1) comprehensive overview of European practices and regulations in the fields of climate change, climate change adaptation, and the adaptation of tourism destinations to climate change;
2) primary research in two stages: within the system of tourist boards in the Republic of Croatia and in focus groups in selected tourism destinations;
3) data analysis, interpretation of research results, and definition of potential climate change adaptation strategies based on the specific characteristics of each destination;
4) primary research among potential tourist demand;
5) preparation of a manual containing potential strategies for the adaptation of tourism destinations to climate change, providing a comprehensive overview of possible solutions to ensure sustainable and resilient conditions for the development of tourism destinations.
